I've got a lot of addictions. They're all awesome.

daniellemertina replied to your post: Why would you say that you’re uncomfortable with folks who ID as black feminist on here?

I’m thinking of doing my next serious undergrad research venture on the limitations of black fem bc of its almost hyped up connection to black men. (which im guilty of myself)

That’ll be an interesting topic.

I think there’s been a sort of… yea, you’re right, limit put on some forms of Black feminism in the push to show that “look we don’t hate men like those White women do.” That’s incorrect for some women, but also what if we do? Let’s have a conversation about why some Black feminists do really dislike men or have believed in separatism (this is such a dated idea but sometimes I wish I could live in a Black feminist commune).

It’s not as if Black women are disconnected from Black men. But I feel like everyone wants to remind Black women of our tether to Black men (oddly enough usually through a connection with the birthing of sons, assuming we all want to become biological mothers, and also ignoring the fact that whatever our feelings Black women tend to work for the race in more concrete ways throughout our lives) but it’s usually just us Black feminists reminding Black men that they shouldn’t denigrate us because they “came from a woman.” THAT’S A BULLSHIT DOUBLE STANDARD THAT I REFUSE TO RECOGNIZE.

So… excuse the rant. Enjoy that project if you get to it.

I don’t agree with that but with the rest most definitely.

You can’t just leave it at that! lol
